Wool keeps warm, as its curled fiber encloses insulating air. It also regulates temperatures and releases excess body heat to cooler surroundings. New wool absorbs up to one third of its own weight of vaporous moisture without it feeling humid to the touch. Due to its lanolin content the fiber also protects from external moisture and has a water repelling effect. Wool does not charge electrostatic and therefore hardly attracts dirt and odors.
Untreated, ecological wool is equipped (= finished) without the use of chemical aids, which is why these fabrics should be maintained with care and are not always machine-washable. Please note the care symbols on the laundry label. Even when properly cared for, natural textiles can shrink 1-2 cm.
Wool hardly absorbs dirt; it literally repels dirt. Clothing made of wool only needs occasional washing, airing it out usually suffices.
Natural wool should be hand washed. It is important that the maximum temperature is 30°C – and the temperature of the washing and rinsing water is consistent.
Machine wash – but only when you see this symbol – is possible.
Recommended temperature is 20°C. Do not spin or only at the lowest spin rate.
The wool / silk clothing from certain brands are physically refined and therefore, washable at 30°C.
For washing, please use a mild wool detergent – lay flat to dry – shape when wet.
No drying in the sun, on the heater or in the tumbler.
